Dr. Dushkin reviews your history, examines the injured area, and pinpoints exactly where your tissue is most reactive so the SoftWave energy lands where it will do the most good.

SoftWave treatment
A little gel is applied and the applicator delivers thousands of shockwaves in a quick 5–10 minute session. Most patients feel a tolerable tapping that eases the moment the device moves on.

What is SoftWave therapy?+
SoftWave is a patented, FDA-cleared form of non-invasive shockwave therapy. A handheld applicator delivers broad electrohydraulic acoustic waves into injured tissue, where they increase blood flow, reduce inflammation, and activate your body's own resident stem cells to repair the area. It's drug-free and non-surgical.
How is SoftWave different from regular shockwave therapy?+
SoftWave uses patented electrohydraulic technology that produces a broad, unfocused wave covering more tissue at the right depth — and it's specifically designed to stimulate stem-cell activation and blood-vessel growth, not just break up scar tissue. That's why it's used for such a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries.
Does SoftWave therapy hurt?+
Most patients describe a tolerable tapping or pressure over the treated area, sometimes with a brief ache at the most irritated spot. The sensation eases immediately as the applicator moves on, and Dr. Dushkin adjusts the intensity to your comfort throughout the session.
How many SoftWave sessions will I need?+
It depends on your condition and how long you have had it. Many patients do a course of sessions spaced about a week apart and start noticing change within the first few. After your exam, Dr. Dushkin will give you a realistic plan with a clear timeline.
What conditions does SoftWave treat?+
SoftWave is used for plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain and rotator-cuff tendinopathy, tennis and golfer's elbow, knee pain, Achilles tendinopathy, shin splints, chronic overuse injuries, and other stubborn soft-tissue and joint problems. We'll confirm at your exam whether it's right for you.
Is there any downtime after SoftWave?+
None. You can return to your normal day right away. Some patients feel mild soreness in the treated area for a day or two — a normal sign that the healing response has kicked in.
Is SoftWave therapy safe?+
Yes. SoftWave is non-invasive and drug-free, and it's FDA-cleared for improving blood flow and relieving pain. There are a few contraindications — such as being pregnant or having an active infection or blood-clotting disorder in the area — which we screen for at your first visit.
